I WANT LANVIN...NOT DIAMONDS

After announcing the collaboration with Lanvin, H&M made us wait for two months until they FINALLY released images of the collection earlier this week. On Monday, the ‘full fashion show’ and look book appeared online, much to the delight of Lanvin fans worldwide. Lanvin Hearts H&M contains classics such as ruffled dresses, statement necklaces and a variety of shoes with diamante encrusted heels in jewel brights. The collection is a dream for any fan of the brand as it marks the first time Alber Elbaz’s high-end designs will be available to the masses. Elbaz told WWD that, “Ninety five percent of women cannot afford [Lanvin], so let them have a taste. It’s like if I was living in a palace and opened some doors and said, ‘Have tea with me, taste the food’.” With prices for a dress averaging at £100 and a T-shirt priced at £24.99 (in contrast to the usual £500), it is a chance for those of us who do not have thousands of pounds to invest in a statement piece. Highlights include the one-shouldered ruffle cocktail dress in mustard, leather gloves embossed with a ladylike bow and the four adorable Lanvin lipsticks. For men, there are metallic, lace up party shoes, a modern take on the tuxedo and the Elbaz trademark: an oversized bow tie. Elbaz describes the range as full of ‘colours, shapes, flowers and happy clothes,’ and has designed pieces to suit all ages, even featuring the elegant Jane Schmitt in the campaign. Anyone in search of a head-turning piece for the Christmas party season need look no further, the figure flattering dresses in jewel brights will capture the attention of the entire room. With the collection sure to sell out in the first ten minutes (they are only on sale at 10 UK stores), make sure you put 9am on 23 November in your diary... I’ll see you in the queue.
